Caravaggio. The Dance of Young Musicians

Don’t miss this most exquisite romantic duo/trio of The Dance of Young Musicians from Mauro Bigonzetti’s two act contemporary ballet, Caravaggio. It is danced here by Vladimir Malakhov, Shoko Nakamura and Michael Banzhaf of the Staatsballet in Berlin. The music is composed by Bruno Moretti based on Claudio Monteverdi.

I just can’t get enough of this piece, to me it is a “wow” in the most touching and satisfying sense because it is so beautiful. Bigonzetti again has created a stunning duet which is seamless from movement to sculpture moment and back again. The constant entwining and enfolding of the dancers is marvelously sensual and danced with great sensitivity and tenderness.

The music is also gorgeous, with simple strings which at first sound like the strumming of a mandolin then joined by the cello and grows as a more strings are added in a slow and unhurried manner. The theme is divine and fuses with the movement superbly to heighten the beauty of both.

I think the kiss near the end is so touching and I just love how the piece ends with the weaving and entwining arms of the three dancers.

I just can’t say enough about this piece, I am enraptured when I watch and it makes me melt with satisfaction!

A wonderful treat for the true Romantic at heart!

Enjoy…!
